Press Releases shapes

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection is taking all necessary measures, in line with the advice of the Department of Health, HSE and Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC), to protect its staff and the public from the Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

There is no confirmed case of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) in Ireland at present.

All members of the public who have been in mainland China in the past 14 days and do not have symptoms are requested by the Health Service Executive to phone their Regional Public Health Department (phone lines are available at the link here)

Customers who have been in mainland China in the past 14 days and have any of the following symptoms – cough, fever or difficulty breathing – should phone their doctor and should not attend any Intreo Centre or public office of the Department in person, even where they have been invited or have an appointment.

To manage enquiries from these customers, the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection has made a special phone-line available at 1890 800 024 or 01 248 1398.

Enquiries will be taken here and referred to the relevant office, on behalf of the customer. The Department will manage customers’ claim or application via phone/email as required, and customers will not lose out financially through non-attendance.

Customers can also avail of a range of online services at MyWelfare – where relevant and where they have a Public Services Card.
